Bob Whynott Gloucester City Councilor and Justice of the Peace

I am currently serving my second term At-large Councilor, having served on the Planning and Development Committee for the past 2 years.  I am now serving on the Ordinances and Administration Committee, which means I have been on all three Standing Committtees.

In 2009, I retired after 17 years as the Gloucester City Clerk, and I appreciate the opportunity to continue to serve my home City, using the knowledge and skills I have developed during my tenure.

In the 70′s and early 80′s, I served two terms as Ward 3 Councilor, so I know what to expect of the job, and I am ready for the challenge. As City Clerk, I ran over 30 successful elections, brought the Clerk’s office into the computer age, and at the same time, served the City Council, other City Departments, State and Federal Agencies, and the general public.

What I bring to the table is:
30 plus years of various service to the City, as City Councilor, City Clerk, and member of the Capital Improvement Advisory Committee and the CATV (Cable TV Advisory Committee).

My strong points are:

  • Getting along with others with divergent opinions
  • Being open minded and able to see all sides of an issue
  • Willing to Listen, Think, and Act – in that order
